You open your window, when it's raining. You smell of the flowers, that I'm training. To climb up your window and into your room. We both float down on your party balloon. Chrysanthemum petals are receiving a breeze from a distant shore where I am going. Follow the blueberry trail and be certain not to ignore the lullaby of the, LOOOO-OO-OO-OO-OOON Floating along, on a pony ride on the moon.

Grab on to the anklebone of the moon Hang on tight it’s slippery It’s not as bright up here but I can see, anyway Falling to the ground as the wind blows I scrape my knees on the pavement I’ve lost my shoe and it’s raining very hard Falling to the ground Lower than the subway mice I fall, through the ground. I’m lying down I turn to crawl To crawl, away To find the strength and face another Day - - Yeah - - - - ayah - a - a-ya Falling to the ground as the wind blows A seagull ship on my forehead. I broke my teeth and I’m coughing up a lung (Musical interlude) Scanning the ground looking for a shiny coin Oh look! A lucky penny Oh joy! My fortune grows Now I just need a million more... Wasting away in the rain at the bus stop A tentacle taps my shoulder I’m falling to the ground as my hair grows I cry, but nobody hears me... Falling to the ground Lower than the subway mice I fall, through the ground. I’m lying down I turn to crawl To crawl, away To find the strength and face another day

Trying to reach the planet Can't see I've got forks in my eyes I'm blood red, I crawl into walls Help me 'cause I'm getting closer to the staircase Oh wow! I'm falling down Heeheeheeheehee... Oh look! he's starting to frown Hahahahahahaha.... Spying through the keyhole I'm looking for comfort I gotta feeling that my hair looks bad I fell down, I think I bruised my elbow I've got a headache and I've got nothing to take for it Oh, the blood is rushing through my veins Flashpeople - Flashpeople Flashpeople - Flashpeople Molten pig fat upon the car seat Cold face and no sympathy A sleep of dream, it's orange again Inside my house, a cardboard box in the rain Flashpeople - Flashpeople Flashpeople - Flashpeople

Swallowing up a Canteen O' Juice, while the butterflies fly 'round my face and I am glowing. Glowing is the sunshine, upon my sweaty forehead, and the grass is blue. I, am dreaming that here I belong... I, know I am dreaming that here I belong. Don't want to see clearly, I'd rather not see anything at all. Blue frog and mangy porcupine, they collaborate on borrowed time without my knowing. Knowing all of the words that rhyme is no benefit to writing songs beyond generic ramblings. Rambling gobbledy garbled-gook all the while it brings a smile a bite-size moment. Moments, years and wasted time pass us by before our eyes while we are soundly sleeping. I, am dreaming that here I belong. I know I am dreaming but here I belong. Don't want to see clearly, I'd rather not see anything at all. Dreaming on, all alone Dreaming on, all alone Yawns are contagious Maybe subconscious Swimming with strangers Ocean of monsters Sleeping is a comfort and a crime willingly blind as I am closing Closing minds and eyes awake To the world without a word that I am slipping away I, know I am dreaming That here I belong I know I am dreaming but here I belong Don't want to see clearly, I'd rather not see anything at all. I fear no weapons My pocket's hurting no money, no time. I've lost my vision rose-colored glasses but dipped in molasses I speak my mission a bad impression is no fault of mine I look at faces put them to places and times gone by Logos and neon signs are flashing in my eye I've got some space left on my neck For some unholy piece of sickly corporate pie Those walking billboards are passing me by. I fear no weapons My pocket's hurting no money, no time. I speak my mission a bad impression is no fault of mine.

about

Formed in Toronto Canada in 1993, Magnificent Octopus began as a conceptual apparatus for the collaboration of many musical friends.
With their first live performance at 'El Mocambo' in 1997, the lineup had solidified into the supergroup of Luke Mercier, Jeff Cardey, Conor Luney and James Switzer combining indie pop, with classical guitar and funky rhythms.

They played a significant role in Toronto's Indie Alternative Rock scene during the years leading up to Y2K, and their music drew inspiration from many strands. Perhaps it was the unknowing of what would happen at the turn of the millennium on multiple levels that fueled their prolificacy.

One can expect to hear elements of 70's television themes, as well as accents of 90's contemporaries such as Ween and Primus.
Other notable influences include the proggy musings of Frank Zappa, Gentle Giant, as well as a wide range of world music vibes.

For a quarter century, 'Boy on a Lobster' (1998) was their only official release, with the rest of the discography left in disarray. 'Pony Ride on the Moon' (2023) is a collection of previously unreleased material taken from studio sessions, rehearsals and live performances. With their latest 'Mussel Memory', this theme of lost episodes continues, with more on the way.

We hope you enjoy this bounty.
