Yellow 04:09
There is a painting on my wall It's got yellow shapes and curves to make it look nice People say that the like it But I'm sure that I like it more Feeling an ache in my shoulder blade When will you come home to Rub it until tomorrow Caught in the path of a hurricane Will it sweep me away from here to another There is a carpet on my floor Yellow paisley swirls and burgundy feathers The room catches the sunshine My skin turns orange and gold Sitting alone in my special place I am surrounded by artistic endeavours I'm caught in the wake of a hurricane Did it sweep me away from here Art imitates life Or is it the other way around I don't know Come to my bleeding heart Don't fear my Art There is a painting on my wall It's got yellow shapes and curves to make it look nice People say that they like it But I'm sure I like it more Lyrics by Luke Mercier and Conor Luney

Deep 01:47
A giant squid in the belly of a sperm whale A wrestling match we missed it sure as hell Monsters washing up on a sandy beach Shedding light on the many salty secrets of the Deep Deep...Deep! A prehistoric shadow on the Madagascar coastline Coelacanth been swimming oceans of time Sailor man, do you know what's below your feet I'm here to tell you that there's Something smelling fishy in the Deep Deep...Deep! Lo - oh no, Ogopogo Lo - oh no, Ogopogo Deeper still to the Mariana Trench Poseidon beside me, I can taste the fishy stench Unearthly eyes and a million rows of teeth Lots of scary faces in colossal inner spaces of the Deep... Deep... Deep!

Anklebone 03:23
Grab on to the anklebone of the moon Hang on tight it’s slippery It’s not as bright up here but I can see, anyway Falling to the ground as the wind blows I scrape my knees on the pavement I’ve lost my shoe and it’s raining very hard Falling to the ground Lower than the subway mice I fall, through the ground. I’m lying down I turn to crawl To crawl, away To find the strength and face another Day - - Yeah - - - - ayah - a - a-ya Falling to the ground as the wind blows A seagull shit on my forehead. I broke my teeth and I’m coughing up a lung (Instrumental) Scanning the ground looking for a shiny coin Oh look! A lucky penny Oh joy! My fortune grows Now I just need a million more... Wasting away in the rain at the bus stop A tentacle taps my shoulder I’m falling to the ground as my hair grows I cry, but nobody hears me... Falling to the ground Lower than the subway mice I fall, through the ground. I’m lying down I turn to crawl To crawl, away To find the strength and face another day

about

Formed in Toronto Canada in 1993, Magnificent Octopus began as a conceptual apparatus for the collaboration of many musical friends.
With their first live performance at 'El Mocambo' in 1997, the lineup had solidified into the supergroup of Luke Mercier, Jeff Cardey, Conor Luney and James Switzer combining indie pop, with classical guitar and funky rhythms.

They played a significant role in Toronto's Indie Alternative Rock scene during the years leading up to Y2K, and their music drew inspiration from many strands. Perhaps it was the unknowing of what would happen at the turn of the millennium on multiple levels that fueled their prolificacy.

One can expect to hear elements of 70's television themes, as well as accents of 90's contemporaries such as Ween and Primus.
Other notable influences include the proggy musings of Frank Zappa, Gentle Giant, as well as a wide range of world music vibes.

For a quarter century, 'Boy on a Lobster' (1998) was their only official release, with the rest of the discography left in disarray. 'Pony Ride on the Moon' (2023) is a collection of previously unreleased material taken from studio sessions, rehearsals and live performances. With their latest 'Mussel Memory', this theme of lost episodes continues, with more on the way.

We hope you enjoy this bounty.
